Swimming ponds? Is a liner needed?

Swimming ponds? Is a liner needed?

Is liner really needed for a swimming pond? Or can I just fill it with water? If not what are some in expensive liners?

   You can't dig a hole and fill it with water and expect it to stay full. Natural ponds are where the water level is above the ground so you have to put something in the ground to make the water stay where you want it. You can buy liners at places like Home Depot and Lowe's and pond shops but I don't think they are rugged enough for swimming but don't know. Then you have to have the water moving or it gets stagnate (a pump) and a filter and you need chlorine so it is safe to swim in. Don't put fish in water with chlorine. You would do better to just go to Walmart and buy one of those four foot pools that comes with everything and then you buy a filter every two weeks and chlorine. Swimming pools are not cheap. . .even filling them is expensive.

   percolation, if you dont have livestock and or lots of rain,or money its not worth it, your well would run 24/7 to half way keep up with the level but it would not win(the well unless you got a 40 hp agwell smaller would work but aint financialloy feasible and my spelling sucks.)you can use a frigging truck tarp for a pond liner, but it will leak your looking at 1 to 2 hr run a week, a pool even small fills the bill better even with the chemicals when you figure out you like to see the bottom. the pool can be bought cheaply for a nice like 41/2-5 ft x 25 ft from wall mart, but dont expect a price here, and its gonna take you 2 friends and all the neighbor kids to set it up and buy atleast 2 filters, cleanable, but you gotta let em dry
